A gang of armed robbers raid the Apple Store in Covent Garden before making off with tablets, iPhones, bags and laptops

This is the shocking moment a gang of armed robbers raid an Apple store in Covent Garden before making off with thousands of pounds worth of tech products.

At 1.10pm on Sunday afternoon, the Metropolitan Police were called to the premises of the electronics store in central London after a group of men ‘forced their way in’.

A witness who saw the incident from another floor of the store said customers also had their phones and belongings “snatched away”.

It is understood they stole tablets, iPhones, bags and laptops from the store in the Piazza, Covent Garden.

“I don’t know if people were hurt, but customers had their phones and belongings snatched away, so I’m sure there was a fight during that,” the witness said.

One of the masked men was also chased by a member of the public as well as a member of the Covent Garden security team.

The Metropolitan Police said: ‘At approximately 1.10pm on Sunday July 17, police received several calls reporting that a group of men had forced their way into a shop in the Piazza, Covent Garden.

“Some members of the group would have carried weapons.

“It is alleged that they stole a number of items before fleeing the area in different directions.

A witness who saw the incident from another floor of the store said customers also had their phones and belongings “snatched away”.

“Although a frightening experience for staff and customers, no physical injuries have been reported.”

“The group had fled before officers arrived but an investigation is ongoing.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has photos or video footage of it, is asked to call 101 with reference 3815/17JUL.
