OMAK – AARP Foundation Tax Assistance Program schedules appointments for its free tax preparation and e-filing services.
Due to the limitations of the COVID-19 pandemic, traditional face-to-face preparation with a Tax-Aide counselor is being replaced with a low-contact approach, said an announcement from Paul Nash, District 15 Washington Coordinator for Tax. -Aid.
Anyone in Okanogan County looking for tax preparation assistance should first schedule an appointment by calling 508-603-9614 and leaving a voicemail. A volunteer will call back to schedule an appointment. Appointments can be made for Omak or Tonasket.
“We’ll meet you at your car, prepare for your return using a phone for communication, and complete your return while you wait,” the ad reads.
The free service is offered until April 15. Tax-Aide can process most personal income tax returns, with a few exceptions.
“Tax-Aide is a free service for anyone who needs help completing their tax return and filing it electronically,” Nash said. “Our dedicated and certified volunteers will provide the same high quality service as in the past, but in a different way to adapt to COVID-19.”
Tax-Aide is an all-volunteer organization whose tax advisors are trained and certified by the IRS. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide operates the nation’s largest volunteer-run tax preparation service.
Membership in AARP is not required.
