LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Do you need help filing your taxes?
Since 2002, an organization has been helping low-income working families across the Southern Plains, providing free tax preparation and e-filing services through its Voluntary Income Tax Assistance Program on income (VITA).
The Coalition of Community Assistance Volunteer, Inc. (CCAV) is a nonprofit organization that partners with other local nonprofits to offer financial literacy workshops to educate recipients of reimbursements. investment tax – rather than just spending their money.
CCAV and the IRS train volunteers to prepare tax returns according to IRS guidelines, ensuring that eligible individuals legally receive every penny of the refunds to which they are entitled.
On the following Wednesdays and Saturdays through April 30, CCAV volunteers will assist income-eligible individuals in person at their offices located at 5601 S. Ave Q.
The VITA program helps workers and families take advantage of all the tax credits to which they are entitled, such as Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit (CTC) and education credits. They also help people with addiction issues, earned income credit controversies, identity theft issues, and more.
Last year, CCAV had over 120 community volunteers who helped over 2,700 individuals and families receive free tax preparation services.
You can visit the CCAV Vita site on Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and the deposit is always available.
