Java Loco expands with new locations
Starbucks in Mount Vernon Plaza may have closed, but local residents and shoppers now have another place to grab their caffeine fix and grab a bite to eat on the go. Local chain Java Loco held a smooth opening Friday at the former Starbucks at 7696J Richmond Highway.
This location is owner Nga Ho’s fifth cafe who owns Java Loco at 289 S Van Dorn St. and another in Falls Church. Ho also owns Ocha Tea in Annandale and Extra Perks at 822 N Fairfax St. in Old Town North, which Ho says will also become a Java Loco.
Ho said he originally planned to open the Mount Vernon Plaza location in May, but the COVID-19 pandemic has delayed many kitchen equipment and furniture. “Due to COVID time, everyone’s things are arriving so late… the display for the drinks only arrived this morning. It was like a 3 month time to ship here, ”Ho explained.
“It’s a lot busier than I expected,” Ho told Alexandria Living Magazine on Friday afternoon during a brief lull in the constant stream of people ordering smoothies, bubble teas and hot drinks. cafes. Ho expects them to be fully operational in about a week. They will then be open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
