Woman turns boring beige home into colorful paradise with £ 20 paint and charity bargains
A frugal, color-loving homeowner has completely transformed her boring beige home into a multi-colored paradise.
Kim, 34, from Lancashire used just over £ 20 worth of paint and bargains at charity shops to get the job done, and relied on cheap DIY tricks to keep costs down.
Speaking to Swyft Home, the color enthusiast, who showcases her gorgeous home on her Miss Mustard Design Instagram page, said she “thrives on design, pattern contrasts and bold dramatic colors” and that “transforms the whole house was so therapeutic “.

Incredibly, Kim transformed the whole house on her own, including the kitchen which now features bold shades of red, green, pink blue, and purple.
Her formerly chrome-plated refrigerator is now a beautiful shade of lilac, thanks to a quick lick of paint.
“We transformed the kitchen by spraying the kitchen units with a dark green acrylic eggshell emulsion and adding detailed brass knobs. We also completely transformed our fridge. I lightly sanded it, applied a thick coat of tough surface primer then painted purple with gold accent feature handles and it still looks amazing. ”
One of Kim’s favorite makeovers was her bed, which she completely overhauled using two cans of spray paint for under £ 20.
The large design is now metallic gold in color and it looks very chic.
Additionally, Kim used an inexpensive halo ring light above the bed and attached a double layer of black peacock-colored ostrich feathers – with amazing results.
Offering her advice, the design lover recommends putting together samples of materials you like to create a moodboard, and then you can give her an idea of what kind of space to create.
She also suggests painting large areas with color swatches on the walls in different areas of the house, as “every angle of every color reacts differently depending on the lighting, which can be quite misleading.”
To get Kim’s look, she said to indulge in “maximum upholstery, bold colors and patterns with quirky gold accessories” – but she encourages people to adopt their own personal style.
“My home is a complete mix of everything we love about a family, an eclectic mix of dramatic patterns and vibrant colors reflects us as a family and our personality,” she said.
